In this document, Department of Medical Biochemistry & Biophysics at Karolinska Institutet, invite vendors to submit offers for customized substance collection to Chemical Biology Consortium Sweden (CBCS), a core facility at Karolinska Institutet, is responsible for the managing and distribution of the national collection of customized small molecules; “SciLifeLab compound collection”.
Access is given to research groups at Swedish universities and national platforms. Today, we can provide the commercial library "Specs drug repurposing set" with approximately 5200 substances, developed in collaboration with the Broad Institute. The collection represents an attractive and practical way to quickly advance in drug research. The benefits of repurposing known drugs are well-known and include reduced costs, time, and risk. Screening this type of collection often provides information about mechanisms in disease biology and plays a vital role in profile benchmarking to identify new active substances. The original set was purchased in 2020 and now needs to be renewed, updated, and supplemented with approximately 1300 additional substances to maintain the quality of national research at a high level with relevant substances to screen.
