About Stockholm Resilience Center (SRC)

Since its launch in 2007, SRC has developed into a world-leading science centre for addressing the complex challenges facing humanity.

The centre is a joint initiative between Stockholm University and the Beijer Institute of Ecological Economics at The Royal Swedish Academy Sciences.

It is governed by a board with additional strategic advice provided by two separate advisory councils.

Our vision and mission

The vision of the centre is a world where social-ecological systems are understood, governed and managed, to enhance human well-being and the capacity to deal with complexity and change, for the sustainable co-evolution of human civilizations with the biosphere.

The mission of the centre is to advance research for governance and management of social-ecological systems to secure ecosystem services for human well-being and resilience for long-term sustainability. The centre applies and further develops the scientific achievements of this research within practice, policy and academic training.

We believe in the importance of reconnecting to the biosphere. We must stop considering nature as something separate from society because people and nature are truly intertwined in what we refer to as social-ecological systems. Development can no longer be done without an increased understanding of nature’s role for our own survival and well-being.

2 Mål och syfte/Goal and purpose

Konsult för att leda arbetet för Global Resilience Partnership (GRP) inom ” Innovation and Scaling and Incubation support”

GRP söker nu en konsult som ska leda GRP:s arbetet med Innovation and Scaling under perioden april 2020 till mars 2021. Tanken är att leda och stödja arbetet med Innovation and Scaling inklusive att bidra till desig och leverans för GRP:s planerade Challenge Fund, samt att agera som mentor till vinnare och stipendietagare. Aktiviteterna sker inom GRP:s Value Additions (VAs): VA01 Innovation and Scaling och VA02 Shared Learning and Mainstreaming, som har finansiellt och tekniskt stöd av Global Environemnt Facility (GEF) och USAID.

Arbetsuppgifter innefattar teknisk support till värdpartners, leverera tjänster till GRP:s challenge programmes, designa och implementera stöd för vinnare och leda arbetet med skalning. Vidare innebär uppdraget att leda GRP:s inkubator samt planera och koordinera dess aktiviteter med vinnare och partners.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

GRP is looking for a consultant who can lead and support the GRP programme Innovation and Scaling activities. The work will be done in close collaboration with the GRP Secretariat team and focus on the following Value Additions (VA) and wider strategic support:

VA01 Innovation and Scaling support: 

Support design and implementation of GEF Challenge.

Grantee and partner support through GRP Incubator, mentoring support and leadership training.

VA02 Shared Learning and Mainstreaming support:

Actively engage with partners and grantees through Incubator activities, through the Community of Practice, workshops and direct mentoring. 

Mainstreaming viability testing, scaling assessments and scaling support.

Strategic Design and Scaling support:

Support design of programmes and proposals (challenge funds, private sector engagement, incubator activities).

Feed learning from GRP Incubator (inclusive of Innovation and Scaling) from phase I into phase II.

3  Kravspecifikation/Requirement Specification

Följande kriterier ska uppfyllas för uppdraget:

Kunskap om resiliens, Global Resilience Partnership och dess partners

Masterexamen i Business Administration

Kunskap om resiliensprogrammering

Erfarenhet av ledarskapsutveckling och mentorskap för projekt och nystartade företag 

Erfarenhet av innovationer för utveckling på utvecklings- och tillväxtmarknader

Ett etablerat nätverk inom utvecklingssektor och privatsektor

Kunskap om tillämpad resiliens och internationellt utvecklingssamarbete

Goda kommunikationskunskaper

Utmärkt förmåga att utrycka sig på engelska, både muntligt och skriftligt

ASSESSMENT

The proposal will be assessed on the following:

Knowledge of resilience, the GRP and its partners

Designing and running challenge funds

Master in Business Administration or similar

Strong resilience programme design, mentoring and support to  

Experience in Leadership development

experience of mentoring projects and startups

experience of innovative processes for development and emerging markets

Experience of and network in both the development sector and the private sector

Understanding of applied resilience and international development cooperation

Outstanding communication skills

Excellent ability to express themselves in English, both orally and in writing

Cost

TIMING

The work related to this TOR will commence in Maj 2020 and finish in March 2021. The time period will allow for any necessary follow-up work which might be required.

DELIVERABLES

The deliverables will be written and/or orally presented outputs based on the requirements listed above.

LEAD CONTACT

Den leverantör som offererar den för SU mest fördelaktiga lösningen tilldelas kontraktet. SU utvärderar anbuden i enlighet med ovan ställda krav.

The supplier who offers the most advantageous solution for SU is awarded the contract. SU evaluates tenders in accordance with the requirements set out above.
