Gel permeation chromatography (GPC)

The Department of Materials and Environmental chemistry is extending its Materials Analysis Center

(MACAL) with a new facility that will be oriented in "soft matter characterization". The proposed soft

matter characterization facility will consist of four capital pieces of equipment where the GPC system

being procured in this procurement is one of them.

Gel permeation chromatography (GPC) is intended to measure the molecular weight and molecular

weight distribution of polymeric materials.

The GPC equipment system being procureed must contain 2 GPC measurement units, one

to measure cationic polymers, and the other to measure anionic polymers. The two GPC

measurement units must be able to perform GPC tests independently and simultaneously.
