Coating of filters for the PLATO space mission

The Department of Astronomy at Stockholm University participates in the European Space Agency´s mission to build the PLATO space telescope. Its main task will be to find and characterize planets like the earth around other stars. The department´s contribution to the PLATO project is to provide surface treatment and testing of space-qualified filters. The surface treatment filters the light and must withstand the extreme conditions prevailing in space in the form of radiation and temperature fluctuations.
