Direct procurement

Request for tender: Optical microscope

Description of goods/services

Optical microscope.

Software for operating the microscope.

Delivery of the optical microscope to the inhouse location.

Installation of the microscope and introductory training.

Requirements specifications of goods/services

The purchase must include the following products/commitments/services:

The microscope should be inverted, not upright.

In addition to the eyepiece, the microscope must have AT LEAST three different output “ports”. Using a semi-transparent mirror to direct part of the light to different ports is acceptable, but at least one port should be able to receive 100% of the output light. (It is acceptable if additional components are needed to fulfil this requirement, but then they should be included in the final offer.)

The microscope must be compatible with implementation of total internal reflection fluorescence (TIRF). TIRF should NOT, however, be included in the offer.

The microscope must be compatible with so called “structured illumination” for selective collection of fluorescence from different vertical planes. A structured illumination system MAY be included in the offer. Otherwise, proposals not having this feature are also welcome as long as compatibility is assured.

The microscope should include a colour camera (not dedicated to fluorescence) for capturing images as well.

It should be possible to switch between reflection/transmission operation. There should be space for additional condenser attachment for transmission illumination.

A filter selection system for fluorescence MUST be included. A system without traditional fluorescent “cubes” is PREFERRED. The system should include some of the most common fluorophore excitation/emission ranges (especially 450-650 nm region; e.g. sulfo-Cy3 NHS ester fluorophore, other NHS dyes).

The focus, the objective selection and the fluorescence filter selection should be motorized. The xy stage does NOT have to be motorized.

The microscope should be compatible with 100x magnification and should be able to mount oil immersion objectives.
