Distributed optical fiber system for strain monitoring

The division aims to purchase an equipment for measuring distributed strain with high spatial resolution

and long measurement lengths. The main purpose will be to carry out experimental research on

existing and new reinforced concrete structures and components of the same kind. The most important

feature that the system should provide is the ability to measure distributed strains inside of a reinforced

concrete element. This might be achieved by attaching the sensory element (fiber) to reinforcement or

by providing an adequate rugosity to the fiber so it will bond to the cement paste inside of the concrete.
